The Sunken Court sentences Idris, and only the queen’s champion, Nerissa, argues for mercy.
To earn his freedom, Idris must retrieve a relic from the trench the court fears to enter.
Nerissa guides him into the dark, where the relic’s guardian recognises Idris’s family name.
Idris returns the relic, learns why his family was banished and chooses which world to live in.
