Tips for a Character Worth Talking To
- One clear trait. Start from one trait rather than five: it gives the chat something to hold on to. For example, “A shy designer who lights up about color palettes.”
- A relationship on purpose. Pick who she is to you deliberately; it sets the tone of every reply. Colleague or wife: the same scene opens two ways.
- Write the first line. Open with where you are, what you noticed and what you want to ask: “Rain again. You still owe me that coffee from Tuesday.”
